Two year Focus

Since 2016, EOCA has introduced a ‘Two Year Focus’ to highlight and raise awareness of key conservation and environmental issues.  The Focus promotes actions, objectives and a target outcome to which members and funded projects can align to, as well as the opportunity to support a relevant fundraiser project.

The first focus campaign, ‘2 Million Tree Project’ was originally launched to celebrate EOCA being 10 years old and, more importantly, contributing €2m to conservation.  In less than two years, the target was not only reached, but surpassed, with the planting of over 2.5million trees!

Following this success, a new focus was launched in 2019, ‘Plastic Free: Mountain to Sea – to enable EOCA, its members and funded projects, to play their part in addressing the global issue of plastic pollution both in the environment and at source.  Again, the results exceeded all expectations, with over 4000km of habitat being cleared of plastic and rubbish.  The original target was 3000km.

The current ‘Two Year Focus’, which started in 2021, is ‘Wild For Nature: EOCA’s Landscape Legacy Project’, addressing issues that significantly impact wildlife, nature, people and the future of our planet: climate change and the loss of biodiversity.

Due to the urgency and importance of this Focus, it has continued into 2023, ensuring that project funding is prioritised to projects that mitigate against biodiversity loss and the climate emergency.
