AKU Italia SRL
AKU is an Italian premium quality boots manufacturer, specialising in outdoor and professional footwear. The company was born in Montebelluna, the historical Italian sporting shoes district, by its founder Galliano Bordin, a typical Italian self-made man. Today, the company owns two industrial facilities: one in Italy, Montebelluna, dedicated to the best in class trekking and mountaineering models, and one in Romania, Cluj Napoca, where the company established a subsidiary plant in 2000.
AKU distributes its products worldwide in more than 30 markets, mainly in Europe. The focus of the company continues to be the comfort, lightweight and fit for authentic mountain enthusiasts and outdoor workers.

AKU considers part of its corporate social responsability to support EOCA.
What else do we do to support conservation?
In Aku we have three groups working on what we call the ‘Act Responsible Project‘: Product, Community, Operations.
Each group is focused to find lower impact initiatives within product development and production, internal or external communities and logistics or product handling.
Our best green product and why?
Bellamont Plus. This shoe is featuring a responsible selection of raw materials. Upper leathers are chrome free, whilst the lining is made of ‘ZeroImpact Leather’, a leather tanned with an innovative process that doesn’t use metals, reduces the use of chemicals and energy required for production and CO2 emissions are compensated with tree planting. The footbed is made with recycled coconut fibres, bamboo fibre and latex. The midsole is partially recycled.
On top of this, the Bellamont Plus is the first and only shoe in the world with an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration).
In addition to the Bellamont Plus, we want to highlight the V-LIGHT SERIES, a collection of models designed to reduce environmental impact by incorporating a significant amount of recycled materials in both the upper and outsole components. The styles in the V-LIGHT SERIES are also vegan-friendly, featuring uppers made from lightweight and durable microfibre, completely free from animal leather.
