– and EOCA becomes approved 1% for the Planet Recipient.
Following an exciting OutDoor in Friedrichshafen last week, the stakes were raised as Patagonia Europe was made the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA)’s second Conservation Champion.
Patagonia’s extraordinary support of EOCA was recognised for three reasons. Firstly, for the hours of work and support put in by EOCA president and General Manager of Patagonia Europe, Holger Bismann. Secondly, for the enormous amount of product donated by the company towards EOCA’s conservation fundraiser at OutDoor this summer – amounting to over 25% of the total donations. And thirdly, just before the show itself, Patagonia Europe nominated EOCA as a 1% for the Planet recipient – which has subsequently been approved. This means that 1% for the Planet member companies, who have all committed to give 1% of their sales annually to approved environmental groups, as Patagonia has been doing since 1985, can now name EOCA as one of their recipients. EOCA is very hopeful that this approval will boost its ability to fund further conservation projects each year.
