COP15 'Make it Mandatory' - Call for Companies to sign! All Depend on Nature Will you make your business voice count?

Our businesses. Our economies. Our societies. They all depend on nature. 2 out of 3 of the world’s most critical risks to our economies are related to the loss of nature over the next decade (WEF).

To halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, we urgently need to accelerate action to reduce negative impacts and increase positive impacts on nature. This will pave the way to an equitable and #NaturePositive future for us all; contributing to the sustainable development goals, #NetZero targets and increasing the prosperity and wellbeing of those most vulnerable.

Assessing and disclosing impacts and dependencies on nature is an essential first step for businesses and finance to understand the ecosystem services that underpin their activities, unlocking the pathway to long term economic prosperity, planetary health and human wellbeing.

2 Million Tree Project - Public Fundraiser to help plant another 80,000 trees in Nepal! Yamchet Village of Dhading. Credit Umesh Basnet Mountain trekking in Nepal is a high point (pun intended!) for outdoor enthusiasts. As one of the world's most species-rich countries, Nepal is known for its stunning scenery and dizzying array of wildlife. But some remote mountain areas have become degraded by hunting, illegal timber harvesting, poaching and wild harvesting of native plants. Local communities, mountain wildlife and ecotourists alike would benefit from reforesting these areas where "off-the-beaten-path" trekking opportunities abound. That is why The Mountain Institute (TMI) has joined forces with the European Outdoor Conservation Association's (EOCA) 2 Million Trees Project. In partnership with local communities, TMI will be planting 80,000 native and locally grown trees in Gorkha, Dhading and Sankhuwasabha districts.

This time, we are focussing on the magestic face of the Snow Leopard. Two projects conserving snow leopards were chosen for EOCA funding by the public and by EOCA members in 2013. The face of these large cats found in the mountains of Central and Southern Asia clearly caught the attention of EOCA’s funders and friends. One of the funded projects conserved these special cats in the Altai Republic, and the other in India. The project in India was implemented by The Snow Leopard Trust, and was nominated to EOCA for funding by member Dynafit who had supported the Trust for a number of years.
