OutDoor 2014 proved to be an incredibly fruitful show for EOCA. Thanks to the huge support and generosity of its members, EOCA was able to hold its most successful Conservation Fundraiser ever, raising nearly €31,000 during the four days of the show. That is enough to fund an extra entire conservation project this year.
In total, 34 members generously donated gear to be included in the fundraiser sale held on the EOCA stand each day. The gear ranged from caps, socks, T-shirts, jackets and boots, to packs, walking poles, mugs and skis, all available at trade prices to visitors of the show. The visitors were also generous with their support, and fundraising started before the show had even officially opened.
As well as the fundraiser on the stand, a number of members held events around the fair to raise further funds for EOCA. KEEN sold 150 pairs of sandals during a Hybrid.Care Event which saw a queue of people form in anticipation of the event. The fabulous Smartwool sock vending machine was also very popular, selling 350 pairs during the show. Stanley sold their classic Vacuum Pints in aid of EOCA, and Marmot sold commemorative cups to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Klean Kanteen had made reusable pints which were sold throughout the fair for use at the Saturday night party in aid of EOCA. In total, €30,909 was raised.
