During the infamous OutDoor Party at the OutDoor Show, Friedrichshafen this year, the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) took to the main stage to announce that they were naming Original Buff, S.A. as their first ever Conservation Champions.
Holger Bismann, President of EOCA and Managing Director of Patagonia Europe, presented the Conservation Champion certificate to Original Buff, S.A. in recognition of their partnership with EOCA and their tremendous commitment to conservation. The award is granted to EOCA members who ‘go the extra mile’ to support conservation through EOCA and will now become an annual event.
Original Buff, S.A. were named as Conservation Champions after approaching EOCA about using 1% of the proceeds from Merino Wool Buff® to fund three of EOCA’s 2011 projects in their entirety.
Holger Bismann said ‘ We are delighted to be working with Original Buff, S.A. and congratulate them on their huge commitment and their forward thinking. This is a step change in how member companies support EOCA, and demonstrates real commitment to and confidence in EOCA. We look forward to other companies following their bold lead.’
Jordi Clapés, Marketing and Communication Outdoor, received the award on behalf of Original Buff®, and stated that Buff® were thrilled. ‘It is a great honour to receive this award in recognition of our commitment. Working hand in hand with EOCA we feel is the best way to keep our balance with nature. We are very happy to be supporting these three projects through EOCA who offer us a simple way to channel our funds to projects making a real difference in the great outdoors’.
