Conservation and the Outdoors

For all of us that enjoy the great outdoors, and the vast range of activities on offer out there, it is vital that we understand how to keep ourselves safe, and also how to safeguard the outdoor environment we want to play in.

In this section of the website, we will be bringing you information on what gear you will need to ensure that you experience outdoor environments safely. We will provide links to the websites of our members who sell the products you will need.

Click on our 'Tread Lightly' section on the right of this page to find information on how you can ensure that you ‘tread lightly’ in the environment. We suggest lots of steps that you can take to ensure that you do not harm or damage the environments that you are visiting and enjoying. All of us with a passion for the great outdoors have a responsibility to enjoy it and protect it for future generations.

Want to have a go yourself, or get a bit more involved? The Volunteering section has information about volunteering opportunities with some of the conservation organisations we have supported.

Finally, there is a section on 'issues', which we will be using to put up articles on current environmental topics, and what you can be doing to take a greener, more sustainable approach to the way you do things, both out in the hills or closer to home.

If you are an individual who loves the great outdoors and would like to support us, please click on the donate button below. Money received will help support the small EOCA team and its conservation work.
EOCA-funding for the Saving Mount Everest project helped us to reduce the amount of waste and to develop a better understanding for an adequate and sustainable waste management in the National Park and World Nature Heritage Mount Everest region.
