In an effort to get people to think more about their purchases, a group of member companies from the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) are turning the consumerism of Black Friday to green, in order to raise funds for vital conservation work around the world. The theme will be continued at the ISPO trade show in Munich next week where an in-person fundraiser on the EOCA stand will continue the good work that has been started online over the weekend.
EOCA members are using their online sales platforms between Friday 25th and Monday 28th November to raise awareness of the conservation that EOCA funds and use sales to raise more money to support this urgent work. AKU, deuter, La Sportiva, Nikwax Germany, Osprey and Pajak are all donating money from online sales over the weekend. deuter is also finishing its Promise Tour at its HQ in Gersthofen on Green Friday itself, offering free repairs to damaged kit so it is ready for its next adventure. Finally, working in collaboration with Outdoor Gear for Good, which collects and sells items of outdoor gear and donating profits to EOCA, Stanley – A Brand of PMI has donated a collection of its GO bottles with a ceramic finish.
Following the Green Friday weekend, EOCA will be taking part in the ISPO trade fair in Munich, where the fundraising will continue with an in-person sale at its stand over the three days of the show. All the items have been donated by EOCA members, including many winter products perfect for the cold weather, or to get ahead with the Christmas shopping, but all with the ultimate aim of supporting the association in its increasingly urgent conservation work around the world.
